Kandichet Care Instructions

All handmade crocheted apparel needs to be cared for properly in order to preserve its quality and to keep it looking beautiful.

When washing crocheted apparel, we recommend using a delicate detergent. A baby detergent or a detergent made specifically for knit or crocheted items will work best, but any other detergent that doesn’t contain bleach should be fine. Any natural, sulfate free shampoo will also work as a suitable detergent.

It is important that crocheted apparel be hand-washed because a washing machine risks irritating, tangling, or unraveling the garment.

THE EASIEST, MOST CONVENIENT METHOD OF WASHING WE RECOMMEND IS:

  1. Fill any clean sink (a bucket would work also) up ¾ of the way with cold water (warm or hot water will agitate the fibers and cause the yarn to wear out quicker).
  2. Add about ¼ cup of the detergent to the water and mix it in to dissolve the detergent.
  3. Soak the garment in the water/detergent mix and use your hands to gently knead the apparel (this will help to loosen any dirt).
  4. After the item is clean to your liking, drain the sink leaving the garment in the sink.
  5. When all of the detergent/water mix is drained, rinse the garment on cold water.
  6. After rinsing, very gently remove as much water as you can from the garment, and lay it out somewhere safe to dry.

*Steaming is recommended for removing wrinkles from crocheted apparel, but avoid direct contact with an iron.
